EC calls for more research into IPv6

According to Total Telecom, a new report makes proposals to encourage take-up of new Web addressing system. A taskforce set up by the European Commission is stepping up its drive to encourage the rollout of IPv6 Web addressing system in the European Union with the publishing of a new report.
Among its latest proposals, the taskforce has suggested the establishment of an EU centre of excellent to promote research into the subject.

In addition, it has called for the creation of a new expert panel to examine in detail non-technical barriers to IPv6 deployment.

The taskforce is also encouraging governments, EU institutions, universities and schools to use the new protocol.

The body was set up because of concerns that the EU might be slow to adopt the standard.
