A group of companies, working together with the IPv6 Forum, have announced the successful completion of a series of VoIP calls over IPv6, the network layer protocol designed to increase the number of available addresses for networked devices. The VoIP calls, which connected Viagenie in Canada and Consulintel in Spain, were initiated from a CounterPath eyeBeam softphone and carried across the IPv6 version of Asterisk, ported by Viagenie. The Asterisk-IPv6 server was located on Stealth Communications' Voice Peering Fabric (VPF) network.
